I really like this song – it grows on me… It’s Kajagoogoo without Limahl. I thought their post-Limahl name was just “Kaja”, but I might have been wrong.
I mean, people on YouTube can’t be wrong, right?
Well, now I see that the three remaining guys (Nick Beggs fronting) didn’t change their name until 1985. Oh, new knowledge everyday!
Wikipedia can’t be wrong, right?
Hungarian synthpop!
A great industrial tune from 1989.
Here’s a short clip from a Soft Ballet concert 1988.
Regarding their name, could it be that they’re fans of Soft Cell and Spandau Ballet? Or is that preposterous to asume? What if they’re only fans of frilly pink dresses twirling around to classical music? It’ll remain a mystery until someone googles it – and it won’t be me this time!
I’m the proud owner of this single on 12″ vinyl. Yay. The singer (Issay) is haaawt!
OMG! How could I miss this?! I think I’m turning Japanese again…
Buck-Tick were one of the pioneers of visual kei - a more elaborate, Japanese version of the new romantic style – which was definately inspired by western visual bands like Dead or Alive, Culture Club, Sigue Sigue Sputnik and Strawberry Switchblade (and of course also punks, goths, and hair metal bands).

Buck-Tick is still of the most famous bands in Japan and I have always dissed them, because I thought they were a crappy boy band. But you know, anything goes for me when it comes to the 80’s and this is exotic 80’s deluxe!

Welsh folk rockers with lots of hair. Harmonicas are sooo punk, btw!

Folksy darlings! I love the gap between Justin Sullivan’s front teeth! :D

Stiv Bator had the drug-addict look. Seems like he was a fan of Joey Ramone – he had the same retarded-sounding voice and his face played in the same league.

These twin brothers are hot! I read that nowadays there are two separate bands called Gene Loves Jezebel. Michal Aston owns the copyright in the US and Jay Aston owns the copyright in the UK – interesting!
